Abby Slater began dance performance in 1985 and choreography in 1998. She graduated from East Stroudsburg University with a degree in Media Communications and a minor in dance and
dance production. Abby was a member of the University Dance Company, coordinator and head teacher of the Community Dance Program and taught adult ballroom and children's dance classes in all
styles. She is a former member of Pennsylvania Dance Vision's Repertory Ensemble.
In addition to her passion to choreograph, Abby began practicing and fell in love with yoga in 2003. She received her 200-hr Yoga Teacher Training certificate in 2010 and recently received her 500-hr certification from the Always-At-Aum Yoga School in New York and is registered with Yoga Alliance (YA).
Abby is the Founder & Artistic Director of Symmetry Dance Company and was a guest choreographer for the East Stroudsburg University Dance Company for over 15 years. She has choreographed and directed the Arts Alive Program at the Newton Ransom Elementary school in addition to various school programs in the region.
Abby holds additional certifications with Yoga Ed™., allowing her to bring yoga into public schools and train classroom teachers to bring yoga tools into the classroom. She is a certified PILOXING Instructor and is also certified with Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) and is a Basic Level 1 Zumba instructor. In Basic level 1 the four basic rhythms are (merengue, salsa, cumbia, reggaeton). In addition to other classes taught by her instructors, Abby teaches Yoga, Cardio Kickboxing and Dance at Symmetry.
Blythe Golosky began her dance career at age 5 at Northeast Theatre Dance Academy under the direction of Lisa Becker Padula. She has also studied under Kathi Jo Hubner at NTDA and Alexi Ramov and Jimmy Sutton at Tiffany Falls Performing Arts Center. Tap has always been her favorite type of dance. Blythe joined Symmetry Dance Company in 2013 and joined the staff as a Creative Movement instructor in 2014. She is the oldest of six children, so she really enjoys working with children and teaching Creative Movement. Blythe attended the University of Scranton for both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Biochemistry and now works as a Formulation Chemist.

I am so happy to share my love of dance and Nia with the world! After discovering Nia almost 2 years ago I have begun to teach what I love!

Laura has been formally trained in Classical Ballet, Jazz, & Modern Dance at the Civic Ballet Co. of Scranton PA. She apprenticed and assisted Irene Petraglia at Civic Ballet, Turi Studio of Dance and Ballet Theatre of Scranton from 1996-1999. She is the former Assistant Director of Modern dance, beginner and intermediate modern and jazz dance instructor/ choreographer for the Ballet Theatre of Scranton's "The Dance Studio". Former Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Arts semi-finalist and 2 year Scholarship recipient to NEIU#19's Art's Alive program for dance. Accepted to DeSales University dance program-1998. Laura is the Assistant Director for Symmetry Dance Company.
Laura is also an award-winning photographer, accessory designer, student, & directs her local communities professional business association. She currently resides in Waverly, PA with her husband, daughter, & overweight orange cat ;)
April Goldberg has been dancing since age three, primarily under the direction of Alexi Ramov and James Sutton. She has studied with the School of American Ballet, the official school for the New York City Ballet. As a member of Ballet Theater of Scranton, Civic Ballet Company, Scranton Ballet Guild, and Ballet Guild of Lehigh Valley, April was featured as soloist in many lead roles. Ms. Goldberg has performed with and trained under members of Pittsburgh Ballet Theater, San Juan Ballet, Los Angeles Ballet, the Rockettes, and Martha Graham School of Modern Dance. Skilled in many varieties of dance including ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, modern, flamenco, ballroom, and aerobics, April has been an instructor/choreographer for many local dance companies, schools, and competitions. Such schools include Vince Brust School of Dance, Northeast Theatre Dance Academy, Turi School of Dance, Civic Dance Center, and Dave Ragnacci School of Dance. Ms. Goldberg has also taught dance for Marywood College for Kids, University of Scranton, Scranton State School for the Deaf, Keystone City Residence, and Tiffany Falls Performing Arts Workshop. April is pleased to now be part of Symmetry!
Janel is a recent graduate of Wilkes University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Arts and a minor in Dance. She began her dance career while in college, studying ballet, modern, jazz, tap, Fosse, and composition at Wilkes under the instruction of Kristen Degnan-Boonin, Lynne Mariani, Sean Harris, and Kris Cross. While in school, Janel performed in numerous main stage and black box productions in Wilkes University’s Theatre, Dance, and Music departments, and held many technical positions as well. She held the position of Teacher’s Assistant under the direction of Lynne Mariani in Modern Dance and Dance Captain for the theatre’s production of “Carrie the Musical.” She also choreographed, performed, and directed an entire contemporary dance production entitled “Walks of Life,” performed at the university’s black box theatre. She is currently a guest choreographer for the school’s theatre productions. Janel started choreographing for Symmetry Dance Company a year ago, creating work for the Bonfire at Scranton Iron Furnaces and at Pirouettes in the Park in Wilkes-barre. She’s very excited to see the company’s hard work and dedication at this year’s performance.
Ashley Tomko is a 2002 graduate from Northeast Theatre Dance Academy under the direction of Lisa Becker Padula and became a teacher on staff in 2007. She has studied with Kathi Jo Hubner at NTDA as well as Alexi Ramov and Jimmy Sutton at Tiffany Falls Performing Arts Center. Ashley participated in master classes with Savion Glover, Dorothy Wasserman, Mary Ann Strilka, the cast of 42nd Street, among others. She was a chorus member for "Chicago" at the Diva Theatre and for "The Broadway Cinderella" performed at the Manhattan Center NYC. She was also a member of the "Red Rocket" Dance Team. Ashley is currently a member of the Symmetry Dance Company since 2012 and joined the staff last year as the tap instructor.
Michele Wieckowski began her dance training in ballet and jazz at the age of 6 at the Moosic Youth Center School of Dance under the artistic direction of Gina Aldrich. In 1999 Michele turned
her full attention to focus on Ballet and Modern while attending Civic Ballet Company under the artistic direction of Helen Gaus. Her most favorite moments always included those while
performing in the annual Nutcracker. During her high school years she also partook in cheerleading where during her senior year she was awarded “feature dancer”
In 2006-2013 she performed with the Julie Ardito School of Dance in Old Forge, PA. Also, in 2010 and 2011 she was the coach for Holy Rosary JV cheerleaders and in 2013 she became a part of the Symmetry Dance Company.
