Yoga

Slow Flow

 

Introduces fluidity in movement and breathing. This 60 minute session begins with centering and warm ups, then moves to a soft vinyasa (flowing sequence – movement with breath). Sun Salutations are included, and asanas are held slightly longer in this class. Slow Flow Yoga also involves abdominal strengthening and a stronger standing sequence. Floor work includes hip openers, gentle backbends, and gentle inversions are explored. The Slow Flow Yoga session ends with a period of cooling and deep relaxation (savasana). Modifications and props are always available to assist with flexibility. There is no pre-requisite for this class. 

 

All Levels Vinyasa

 

This class is for experienced students as well as beginners with a higher fitness level. Breath is emphasized throughout this vinyasa flow practice, as well as quieting of the mind and opening of the heart. This 75 minute session includes vigorous sun salutations, standing, seated and reclining poses as well as some balancing and inverted poses. Relaxation and (savasana) closes each class. Pranayama (breath work, energy flow) and meditation are included.  Pre-requisite:  None required but a slow flow class is recommended before coming to an open level.

 

Hatha Yoga

 

A wonderful candlelit mix of meditation and yoga movements set to a relaxing blend of music. Practiced in a darkened candlelit environment, it enlightens the senses and lifts your spirits. Great for all levels of students. Hatha yoga focuses on the integration of body, breath, and mind. The practice of Yoga involves guided body awareness, breathing, and classical postures. The result is increased strength, stamina and endurance. This non-athletic approach improves cardio-fitness, creates deep spinal relief and promotes overall health and well-being.

 

Through the yoga postures, inner peace is achieved through gentle stretching. Deep spinal release is also achieved and stresses both of body and mind are diminished.

Heated Yoga

 



This class will be limited in size to afford individualized attention to enhance your personal progression.


The classes will be conducted in a heated and humidified room to facilitate flexibility and detoxification.  Heated yoga comprises a coordinated series of 26 poses focused on the spine.  Through the poses muscles are strengthened, and joints and tendons are lubricated.


The heat, humidity and poses accelerate circulation and the enhanced oxygenation is highly beneficial. The SWEAT – ohhh, the sweat, it’s cleansing and rejuvenating. The breathing (two different types) clarify the mind and decrease carbon monoxide. What to bring – mat, mat towel, hand towel and water or hydration drink. What to wear – loose fitting clothing, tank tops and loose shorts. 
 

Essential Yoga: All levels

 

This class is suitable for the beginner and the experienced yoga practitioner.  A balanced sequence of yoga poses, breathing practices and relaxation techniques will be presented to achieve an inner sense of well being.  Instruction will include simple alignment techniques to cultivate comfortable posture and internal strength.  Use of supports and props will be offered as needed.

 

Yoga Strength and Flexibility: Continuing level

 

Cultivate balance, strength, and flexibility with an integrated practice of yoga poses and the ancient techniques of pranayama and systematic relaxation.  Participants will gain a deeper understanding of alignment in classical yoga poses and how to systematically approach more complex poses. Props and supports will be utilized to access and maintain core integrity.  

 

Prenatal Yoga

 

The body has an innate wisdom about the stages of pregnancy, labor and birth. Prenatal yoga is designed to reconnect with this natural process. Yoga can alleviate many of the common discomforts of pregnancy. Yoga works to strengthen the pelvic muscles and uterus, aid in digestion and elimination, increase flexibility and create space for the baby and your organs.  Join this class at any stage of pregnancy. 

 

Relaxation/Meditation Yoga
 

Join us to take time to recover from stress or just to relax! This class can be enjoyed by beginners and/or those with prior yoga experience.  This is a perfect class if you are recovering from injury. Props and modifications are offered to support your body and breath. An added emphasis is placed on breathing and relaxation facilitating tension and stress release while learning and practicing yoga.

Kickboxing

Cardio Kick & Interval Training

 

This class begins with a traditional cardio kickboxing warm up, transitions into to circuit kickboxing and interval training to maximize fat burn and ends with 15 minutes of strength and abdominal  training.  It is a mix of martial arts, aerobics, athletic training and strength-training.

Dance

Intermediate Jazz/Contemporary Technique Class - Ages 10-14


The class is geared towards those dancers who want to focus their training on jazz and cutting edge contemporary movement. Students are exposed to a diverse range of styles of movement from past to present.

 

Jazz/Contemporary Technique Class, Mondays - Ages 15-Adult


The class is geared towards those dancers who want to focus their training on jazz and innovative, cutting edge contemporary movement. Students will be encouraged to embrace and explore a broad range of material that will help each of them develop his or her own individual voice as an artist in an evolving art form.

 

Modern/Lyrical Technique Class, Thursdays - Ages 15-Adult

The program offers instruction in modern dance, while incorporating training in contemporary movement and classical ballet. Students will be encouraged to embrace and explore a broad range of material that will help each of them develop his or her own individual voice as an artist in an evolving art form.

 

Hip Hop

This is a dance class focusing on traditional hip hop movement.  Emphasis on building stamina, rhythmic isolations and exploring syncopation through music and choreography.  Each class will consist of a warm-up and a step by step breakdown of a different dance combination each week, using hip hop, dance, pop and even rock music!
